Everything You Need to Know About Our Dog Walking & Wedding Chaperone Services
How long is each walk?
Book in for an hour or two depending on your dogs needs.
How many dogs do you walk at a time?
Never walk more than four dogs at any time, ensuring that their temperament and size match.
What time do you walk?
We have three walks a day.
9 am – 10 am
11 am – 12 am
1 pm – 2 pm
Which allows for puppy pop ins or solo walks.
What happens in bad weather?
In extreme weather (above 26 degrees) walks will be scheduled earlier if possible or house visits will be done instead where we have a range of puzzle games to play, so that the dogs are mentally stimulated rather than exposing them to extreme heat.
Severe storms, walks may be cut short if it is proving unsafe for dogs and walker.
Do I need to be home when you collect or drop off my dog?
No, the majority of our clients are happy for us to hold keys for their property or supply key safe codes. All keys and codes are kept in a secure location and will never be marked with anything other than your dogs name for identification.
Are there any restrictions?
Dogs with aggressive tendencies will not be accepted, this is for the safety of other dogs in the group and the safety of the dog walker. All dogs MUST be fully vaccinated. Bitch in season will not be walked for a four week period from start day of season, this is for the safety of the bitch, but home visits may be able to be accommodated.
What happens in an emergency?
In an emergency you will be contacted immediately, if we are unable to contact you and veterinary treatment is required your dog will be taken straight to the vet. If the vet is not required, I will use my canine first aid training to treat the dog and inform you straight away.
Can I have occasional walks?
Absolutely. As long as registration forms have been completed and initial consultation, we are very happy to accommodate ad hoc walks. Simply send a text or what’s app message with the date required.
Do I pay for walks upfront?
No, at the end of each month, an invoice will be emailed detailing the dates and length of time for that months walks. Payment is accepted by bank transfer within three days of receipt of invoice.
How far do you walk on each walk?
Weather dependent obviously, but a normal fun filled hour walk usually covers 4km, but the dogs walk/run much further as they are backwards and forwards chasing each other and I will very often play games in the forest with them.
Do you offer trial walks?
Once We’ve done the initial consultation we can usually realise which group your dog would fit in perfectly, but yes, the first walk is always a trial (paid), just to make sure you, your dog and we are all happy. Sometimes a dog needs to be moved into another group for various reasons, but it happens rarely.
Are there any additional fees?
Occasionally we are happy to walk your dog on a weekend. bank holiday if requested, however these times do incur an additional cost which will be discussed at the time of booking depending on the individual needs.
How do you handle behavioural issues during a walk?
Safety of your dog, ourselves and the public is our absolute priority. Dogs are sometimes naughty, just like kids they misbehave at the worst moment. As long no harm is going to come to anyone or anything else they may just get recalled for a five minute calm down. If they become aggressive or reactive they will be put back on lead and a discussion may need to be had about solo walks being a preferred option.
Do I need to provide anything for the walk?
No, just your dog and collar. We provide leads, towels, water bowls. poo bags and treats, unless there are specific dietary requirements.
Is there any way you plan against loosing a dog when off lead?
All dogs have a name tag clipped onto their collars, which has Goodwoof’s telephone number, just in case. The name tag also has bells on it, so that on the odd occasion a dog chases after a squirrel, rabbit etc we can always hear which direction they have gone and can hear them coming back to us. Just an extra piece of reassurance.
